brain freeze, i had a similar problem on my a74 on the weekend twice through the day the camera froze on an image, the image only filled the centre of the monitor and i had to take the battery out ...

even using shallow dof on my dogs eyes is perfect still focused on the eye not the over hanging hair/fur Rp

I never had a problem with the original or latest firmware for critical eye focus. are you using continuous focus with eye enabled ? also your a660 has nearly 2x the dof using the same lens. Rp
