I just have to go out my front door in Central Alberta to get some very impressive Aurora displays. I'm not too sure if Alaska, Iceland or Churchill would be all that much better, although it...

I use a Samyang 14mm on a Sony A7 III or Sony A7R III. 10 sec. subs @ ISO1600.

From my experience with Auroras the time-lapse in this article is probably 5-10 times faster than a normal realtime Aurora. I do the same with my Aurora sessions, i.e.: compress a couple of hours...

Never found a problem with scratches or dirt on the front element of a lens; however, the same doesn't apply to the rear element. Scratches/dirt on it have a significant impact on image quality!

@fferreres Then why would I want Photo AI if I already have all the good stuff? Just more software to clutter up your harddrive.
-
Photo AI compared to DeNoise, Sharpen and GigaPixel is sorta like comparing Lightroom CC vs. Lightroom Classic. A reasonable attempt at combining the three other Topaz offerings but missing all...

They are actually 128GB cards but very slow, no name cards.

Yup, I've bought a similar product, advertised as a 16TB external SSD. Price: $16US. When I tested the unit if would only hold 1TB of files, although Properties showed it had a capacity of 16TB...

And remember, postprocessing is often more important than the collection of image data when you're talking astro-imaging.

Very achievable with the IV. And no, the sunset wouldn't be blown out. Stars are bright and the Milky Way is one of the brighter objects in the night sky; however, I suspect the orange glow is ...

So the max. exposure time is 33.9sec. What does this have to do with star trails which are shot at a lot shorter exposures?
-
Follow the 500 Rule. With a tripod you can get some very good sky shots, i.e.: 20-25 sec at 24mm, 5 sec at 100mm, maybe 1-2 sec at 500. Depends on how picky you are WRT star trails. The camera ...

I'm beginning to believe drone operators are the most paranoid people on Earth!

@sirhawkeye64 Wow, 80MB! A truly premium drive. Our first drives were 5MB and cost about $4,000 each, and were housed in now extinct Texas Instrument PC's.

When we first installed our first commercial grade computer we had 300MB harddrives the size of a washing machine driven by a 1/2 HP motor. Of course the air conditioning required was larger than...
