There is a lot of misinformation about the location of the initial focus point for focus stacking. The split is approximately 1/3 of the shots closer to the camera and 2/3 farther away. Because of the small number of shots involved the split cannot be exact. This shows what the camera actually does for each value of “Number of Shots”.
